Bourns Announces Availability of Web-Based Technical Training

The web-based tutorials provide in-depth technical information on Bourns® products, information to help design engineers select the right product or solution for their specific application and relevant standards specifications. The first training modules offer detailed data on circuit protection, resistive products and sensors and controls technology solutions.

“One of the aspects that separates Bourns from its competitors is the company’s strong technical knowledge and applications expertise. Designated the Bourns® PWR4413 Series, the new resistors feature 0.8mm and 1.00mm terminations and are capable of up to 30A of continuous current and pulses up to 78 amperes. These current sense resistors are designed for applications that require tighter precision and higher operating temperatures and can be utilized as a drop-in replacement for other, less durable types of resistors. Designated Bourns® models CRF1206 and CRM2512-FT, the new power resistors are also RoHS compliant. Bourns’ CRF1206 power resistor is constructed from a stamped metal alloy boasting an extremely low one watt of power in an ultra small 1206 size package. Bourns’ CRM2512-FT is a new surface mount power resistor that features a power rating of two watts in a small 2512 size package.

The small package size and low power features of Bourns’ CRF1206 make it an ideal solution for power supplies and stepper motor drive applications. Bourns’ CRF1206 features low inductance (less than 5 nH) and resistance values of 0.01 and 0.02 ohms with TCRs of +100 PPM/°C and +75 PPM/°C respectively. This new power resistor is also rated to handle overload conditions equivalent to five times the operating power for up to five seconds.

RIVERSIDE, Calif., April 21, 2009 — Bourns, Inc., a leading manufacturer and supplier of electronic components, today announced the company has developed a new power resistor specifically engineered to meet high temperature soldering requirements that enable improved automated board assembly.  Designated Bourns PWR263S-20, the new power resistor features a D²PAK surface mount package, which provides an optimal solution for space-constrained designs that have lead free soldering temperature requirements.  Bourns’ new power resistor is ideal for high-volume; high power component automated assembly, and is a drop-in replacement for competitive thickfilm resistive products in D²PAK packages.  The new power resistor is designed to fit a broad range of applications that include industrial automation, telecommunication equipment, lighting controls, heating systems, battery chargers, inverter drives and general switch mode power supplies.
